Skincare Routine - Step by Step

Healthy skin comes from having a good daily facial skin care routine. Your skin is able to cleanse, heal and even renew itself. How effectively it does these things is partly governed by how well you take care of it. In this article, we list down the best skin-care regime for you - Step by Step.

There should be 3 basic steps in your daily facial skin care routine - Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize. After which, you are supposed to do 3 more subsequent steps regularly.

Cleansing

Cleansing should be done twice daily, one in the morning and night. It helps to remove dirt and grime, excess oil on your skin surface and pores and aids the cell renewal process.
However, be careful not to over-cleanse your face... it can strips you of your natural skin oils that prevent dirt from entering the pores.

Toning

Toner is used to restore your skins natural pH levels which were probably altered during cleansing. By restoring your skin to it's natural pH, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms.

Moisturizing

A moisturizer is a substance that helps your skin trap moisture in the cells, specifically located in the face. It helps keep the skin moist and protected all day. They sometimes contain sunscreen for protection from the sun. It makes the skin feel hydrated and not parched.

Additional Important Steps:

Apply Sunscreen

Every dermatologist and skincare expert said that sunscreen was the most important part of your skincare regime and its a secret they would pass to their daughters! The no.1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage so you must start using it from young.

Start with a min. of SPF 30 daily and SPF 50 if you wish to spend an extended period of time outdoors. A great trick is to get 2 moisturizers: one for the day that includes UV protection so you can use them together, saving you money and time and the other just for used at night.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is a process where you get rid of your old dead skin cells and aid the new cells generation. Massage the scrub gently on your face and rinse away thoroughly. Your skin will glow and any fine lines will become less visible. Take note not to over-exfoliate as well, it will lead to irritation to the skin.

Mask

Yes.. there is a reason why masks are selling so well nowadays.. they are like luxury items that give you a pamper once in a while! Peel-off masks are best for blemished skin, whereas rich, moisturizing masks are best for dry skin.

Facials

Trust the experts with a professional facial once every month or bi-monthly and you are good to go with all the beautiful skin!
